Japanese Red Fox ( ). Hokkaido, Japan
While travelling along an isolated road in the heart of winter in northern Japan, I spotted a distant pair of Japanese Red Foxes on a distant ridge of a snow covered field. Approaching cautiously on foot through soft, thigh-high snow, hand-holding a long lens,I couldn’t believe my luck when it became apparent that the fox pair were in the act of mating, the male showing surprising dexterity!
